Lora Emily Grassi Zinda

ROCKY MOUNT - Lora Emily Zinda, age 96, departed this life on Thursday, September 3, 2015. Born in Ligerlia, Italy on May 31, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Olga Grassi and Julio Grassi. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Frank Zinda and one brother, Aldo Grassi. Lora was a war bride and married the love of her life, Frank, in 1945 and moved to America in 1946. She called Milwaukee, WI her home for 51 years. She was a nurse for 39 years at St. Marys Hospital, where she loved the people and the work, and where she met three great friends. In 1996, she and her husband moved to Rocky Mount to live near their daughter. Lora was a devoted member of Mother of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Milwaukee, WI and Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Rocky Mount, also belonging to the Tried True Club of Rocky Mount and the church prayer group (friends who were like family). She was an avid reader all her life, always enjoying a good mystery book. She will be remembered as a hard working woman whose family and church were her life. She will truly be missed by all of her family and friends. Lora leaves behind to cherish her memory, her daughter, Roberta “Bobbie” Moore and her husband, Bruce, of Rocky Mount; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren: grandson Roger Romens and his wife, Laura, of Slinger, WI (great-grandchildren Anthony and Rachel); granddaughter Kim Faulkner and her husband, Jim, of Winterville, NC (great-grandchildren Bronson and Blakely; and granddaughter Michelle Pittman and her husband, Steve, of Rocky Mount (great-grandson Jacob). A visitation will be held Friday, September 11, 2015 from 6:30 to 7:45 PM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 331 Hammond Street, Rocky Mount, NC 27804. Following the visitation, a rosary will be prayer at the church at 8:00 PM. The Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2015 at 11:30 AM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, Loaves and Fishes Pantry, 331 Hammond Street, Rocky Mount, NC 27804 or Mass Offerings in Loras memory. The family would like to thank and say, God Bless, to all the personnel at Brookdale in Rocky Mount for their devoted help and friendship to Lora over the years she lived at their facility and Vidant Medical Palliative Care Unit, Greenville, NC.
