Linda Jean Nichols

ROCKY MOUNT - Linda Jean Nichols, age 75, passed away on Saturday, June 10, 2017 after a long struggle with dementia. Born in Pittsburgh, PA on February 6, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Woodrow and Helen Zimmerman. Linda was educated in the Pittsburgh City Schools, moved to Baltimore Maryland and then to Rocky Mount, North Carolina in 1968. Linda relocated to Rocky Mount after a 1978-1981 stay in Chicago, Illinois. Linda was a longtime member of Englewood United Methodist Church where she was the Womens Club Treasurer and Coordinator for many catering events. She was a faithful supporter of numerous church projects and was a past president of the Debuettes. She enjoyed playing bridge, watching movies, shopping, family meals, sewing, and traveling. Linda was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Linda leaves behind to cherish her memory, husband of 55 years, Thomas Wilbur Nichols; son, Thomas Woodrow Nichols and wife, Connie Lisa Nichols; and daughter, Rachelle Lynn Hinnant and husband, Gary Ray Hinnant. She is also survived by grandchildren, Tyler Nichols, Ryan Nichols, Nicholas Hinnant, and Sydney Hinnant; and special Aunt, Patricia Bagwell. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, June 23, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Englewood United Methodist Church, 300 S. Circle Drive, Rocky Mount with the Rev. Terry Williams officiating. Visitation with the family will be following the service in the Fellowship Hall of Englewood United Methodist Church. The family would like to thank Spring Arbor and Kindred employees for their care and concern for Linda. The family also wants to extend a special thank you to Maniza Findlater. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Englewood United Methodist Church, 300 S. Circle Drive, Rocky Mount, NC 27804.
