ROCKY MOUNT – Lillian Rosyln Fisher, age 92, passed away on Wednesday, June 5, 2024. Born in Nash County, NC on September 29, 1931, she was the daughter of the late David Crayton House and Bessie Edwards House. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Jay Boyd Fisher; and her sisters, Marjorie Gray, Loucrecia Griffin, and Priscella House.
Rosyln was a 1950 graduate of Red Oak High School where she played basketball and enjoyed attending the Red Oak High School Alumni Banquets. She worked as a nurse at Nash General Hospital for many years. Rosyln was a longtime member of Dortches Baptist Church. She enjoyed going to the beach, loved gardening, was a great cook, and enjoyed going to the Fireman’s supper at Red Oak Fire Department. Roslyn loved everything Christmas with family and friends. She was a devoted wife, mother, and friend and will be truly missed by all who knew her.
Roslyn is survived by her daughter, Martha Fisher Barnes of Rocky Mount; her grandson, Michael Jay Barnes of Elizabeth City; her niece, Vickie Lovett (Jimmy); and her nephews, Scott Griffin (Bonnie), Randy Griffin (Ginger), and Neal Griffin.
A Funeral Service to celebrate Roslyn’s life will be held on Monday, June 10, 2024, at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Pastor Rick Gaskins and Rev. Chet Raines officiating. Burial will follow the service at Red Oak Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 1:00 PM to 1:45 PM prior to the service in the Atrium of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Roslyn’s memory to Dortches Baptist Church, 4776 Dortches Blvd., Rocky Mount, NC 27804.
