Lewis Wayne Bridgers

Lewis “Wayne” Bridgers, age 72, passed away Tuesday, July 1, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. Born November 24, 1941 in Edgecombe County, he was the son of the late Don Paul Bridgers and Lida Mae Killebrew Bridgers. He was raised in Macclesfield, NC. Wayne and Vicki operate the local NC Motor Vehicle License Agency. They have spent 39 years of dedication and hard work serving the Rocky Mount area. He leaves behind his devoted wife of 40 years, Vicki Sallee Bridgers; daughter, Angela Lewis and husband Daniel of Rocky Mount; son, Patrick Bridgers of Macclesfield; grandchildren, Trent Lewis, Maelyn Lewis and Mason Bridgers; sister, Gail Elkin and companion Dale Nute of Ormond Beach FL; brother, Don Patrick Bridgers and wife Dorothy of Andrews SC. He also leaves to cherish his memories many special in-laws, nieces, nephews, extended family, and countless friends. He had a passion for being outdoors. One of his favorite past times was working in the yard and spending time on his tractor. He had a special place in his heart for his horses and dogs. He loved riding his golf cart and visiting around the neighborhood. He was a friend of the community - caring, giving, and always willing to help others. A Memorial Service to celebrate Waynes life will be held at 6:15pm Thursday, July 3, 2014 at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home with Rev. Allen Mills officiating. Visitation with the family will follow the service. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to West Edgecombe Baptist Church, 13821 NC43 North, Rocky Mount NC 27801 or RM Fire Department Benevolent Fund, 375 East Raleigh Blvd, Rocky Mount NC 27801.   14. Vickie Angie, & Pat Thinking of you. I am so sorry in the loss of Wayne! He was a special friend of both Fred and myself. We will miss him and my regret is not stopping by your agency to just say hello. He was on my mind a couple of weeks ago and it was my intent to stop by but time slipped by. I have many fond memories of him coming to the bank daily always smiling and loved to cut up with everyone. And memories of Wayne transporting our horses Cricket and Skippy to Red Oak. Cricket didn’t like loading on a trailor but Wayne with his love of horses had no problem with her. Just wanting to share with you!!

During this time of sorrow, mediating on Jehovah God promises found in his word the Bible, can truly be a source of comfort-2 Cor. 13, 4. At Isa 258, Jehovah makes a promise regarding the end of death! He lets us know that he is going to swallow up death, and wipe away all the tears of sorrow! What a wonderful time that will be! At John 528, 29, Jehovah gives us a promise through his son Jesus Christ, that we can be reunited with our dead loved ones by means of the resurrection hope!
