Katherine Humphries Camp

November 13, 1929 ~ July 5, 2014

Katherine Grace Humphries Camp November 13, 1929 - July 5, 2014 With Gods perfect timing, He chose to bring one of His saints home. He allowed Katherine Camp to step into eternity with Him on Saturday, July 5, 2014. She was surrounded by her loving family as she slipped into His arms. As a devout Christian, she touched many lives in her work and church families. Being a military wife, she had the opportunity to travel the world. Katherines Christian witness followed her from Maine, Virginia, Georgia, Texas and even to Morocco, North Africa. She lived by example and greatly influenced our family. Born in 1929 to Haskell and Lizzie Humphries in Shelby N.C., Katherine was the eldest of ten children. She was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Jason Camp; her husband, Boyd Camp; brothers, Blaine Humphries, Wendell Humphries and Roger Humphries. Katherine is survived by her son, Larry Camp and wife Lynne; grandsons, Hunter Camp and wife Susan, Travis Camp and wife Amy; great grandson, Caleb Camp; and great granddaughters, Emma Camp, Kate Camp and Elizabeth Camp. Six siblings are also surviving; Doris Poston (Texas), Ann Henson (S.C.), Joyce Smith (S.C.), Judy Scott (Kentucky), Dwight Humphries (N.C.) and Doug Humphries (S.C.). After working many years with the government, Katherine retired from the Pentagon. In retirement, Katherine wrote a book that will be her legacy. Inspired by God, Katherine hoped that any who read it will have a closer relationship with Jesus Christ. A Going Home service will be held at 1:00pm Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at Englewood Baptist Church with Rev. Michael Cloer officiating. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Englewood Baptist Church, 1350 S. Winstead Avenue, Rocky Mount NC 27803. You left this world a brighter place With shoes too big to fill And so we say goodbye for now But reunite we will. Arrangements entrusted to Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home, 1130 N.
