Johnnie Elbert Weaver

ROCKY MOUNT – Johnnie Elbert Weaver, age 91, went home to be with his Lord and Saviour on Friday, December 9, 2022. Born in Edgecombe County, NC on October 19, 1931, he was the son of the late William David Weaver and Bettie Langley Weaver. He was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, Marie Barnes Weaver; his siblings: Sallie Winstead, Lonnie Weaver, Bessie Winstead, David Weaver, Bobby Lee Weaver, Estelle Parker, and Maggie Walston. Johnnie was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who will be greatly missed, but we know he is now at home in heaven with his Lord and Saviour, and he is reunited with his wife, Marie. He was a long-time member of Grace Free Will Baptist Church. He loved traveling to the mountains, camping out, bluegrass music, and his 3 musketeers bars. Johnnie leaves behind to cherish his memory: daughter, Dale W. Flood and her husband, Don; son, Steve Allen Weaver; daughter, Betty W. Satterwhite and her husband, Chuck. He is also survived by seven grandchildren: Lee Flood and his wife, Sara; Megan Turner and her husband, Jonathan; Molly Satterwhite; Cole Weaver; Bennett Satterwhite and his wife, Hunter; Stevie Jo Lumley and her husband, Tyler; and Macie Weaver and Lane Tyler. He is also survived by five great-grandsons: Ethan Flood, Aaron Flood, Spencer Turner, Levi Tyler and Lukas Tyler; four great-granddaughters: Savannah Lumley, Ava Lumley, Laelynn Turner, and Cora Flood; and two unborn great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother, Paul Weaver. A Funeral Service to celebrate Johnnie’s life will be held on Tuesday, December 13, 2022, at 2:30 PM in the Chapel of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Rev. David Proctor, Sr. and Rev. Paul Weaver officiating. Burial will follow the service at Mill Branch Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM prior to the service in the Atrium of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home. Flowers are welcome.
