John Allen Sutton

John Allen Sutton, age 31, died on Saturday, May 2, 2015. John was born on March 12, 1984 to Henry Allen Sutton, Jr. and Rachel Harris Sutton. John was an avid outdoorsman whose love for hunting and fishing was widely known. In spite of his strong passion for the outdoors, John's work ethic was equally respected. He was employed with Cummins Diesel as a Shift Team Leader, a position he took seriously and his dedication was one to look up to. John was a loving son, striving to make his parents proud in everything he did, a caring brother and uncle who made evident family was always first in his book, and a dearest friend to all those he knew. He is survived by his parents; his sister, Katheryn Sutton and her fianc Ricky Perry of Nashville; a brother, Charlie Carpenter of Four Oaks, his nephew, Gray Sutton of Nashville, and his fiance Blair Johnson of Roanoke Rapids. He also leaves behind numerous aunts, uncles and cousins who will all dearly miss him. A Celebration of Life Service will be held the afternoon of Saturday, May 9, 2015 at 2:00 pm inside the Chapel of Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 1130 N. Winstead Avenue, Rocky Mount, NC 27804. A Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services beginning at 1:00 pm. The family would like to give a special thanks to the many volunteers, especially the North Carolina Wildlife & Fisheries Game Wardens, local county government agencies, local hunting clubs, many friends and family members and those whom even though did not know John, gave of their time to help in the search efforts. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in John's memory to the Roanoke Valley/Littleton Volunteer Fire Department - Water Search and Rescue, Attention: Mark Collier, Post Office Box 413, Roanoke Rapids, NC 27870.   1. Dear Sutton Family, I am so sorry for your loss. John was a wonderful person, student, and friend during his school days here at Haywood Community College. I was proud to see him graduate with his Associate degree in Fish & Wildlife Management Technology and go on to do what he loved best, which was fishing and hunting! May John rest in peace and your hearts be filled with wonderful memories of happy times shared. Please know that we are keeping you all in our thoughts and prayers. May God bless and comfort you!   2. I will miss my Friend. In my life I have known no other like John Sutton. Although I am more than twice his age, he treated me with great respect, taught me things I never knew, endeared me into a bond of lasting friendship….I greatly admired John, I have few words for John’s Parents in this time of Grief, except to say, Thank You for providing me, and so many others the opportunity to have brought into this world a man, who was an inspiration and a kind and gentle heart. I will miss my Friend! My heart felt love to you Allen, Rachael, and Blair. I wish you all Peace knowing that Jesus has His arms around a wonderful Man.

And then your Kathryn came. And we knew that they were the center of your lives. We know how very much you loved John and that you were so proud of all he had become.   5. John, you were a great guy the many years we grew up together…hunting and fishing! The people that know John, we was a one of a kind in the woods and on the water….he knew pretty much anything there was to know when it came to outdoors. We spent many hours, days, and years together hunting and fishing….Family was very dear to his heart and would do just about anything to help you out. Our prayers go out to Allen, Rachael, Katheryn and Gray. You will be truly missed and know that GOD took in a good guy to heaven. Rest In Peace John…..

  7. John Sutton was a very caring, hard working, reliable, and dedicated individual. He will truly be missed by his RMEP family, especially team 8. From John’s shy ways, the fishing and hunting stories, the many videos of his trips, the chocolate at Christmas, and last but not least the many attempts to get us to eat deer jerky or some type of deer meat he will be missed by us all.   8. John was a wonderful and humble person. He always had a joke for you. He love making people laugh. He was an inspiration on team 8. He taught me that everything doesn’t need an reaction. He was a great man. He help people out when needed and didn’t ask for a lot. You are truly missed. It will not be the same without you. We lost a very important person. Although I never had the pleasure of meeting John, your family photos make evident a profound respect for nature and dedication to family, two of the most admirable pursuits a man could have in my opinion.   11. John was the sweetest,nicest person you could ever meet. I know God don’t make no mistake but o know you got your wings. Its been ruff at work but you will never be forgotten. I know we have lots of memories of you at work. Rest in peace John Sutton or should I say Johnrad the name we gave you. Team8 is really going to miss you especially watching the clock to see how many we got on the board. I will never forget our Johnrad and I will continue to pray for your family and Blair as well.
