ROCKY MOUNT – JoAnn Whitaker Williams, age 61, passed away on Wednesday, September 21, 2022. JoAnn was born in Nash County, NC on January 31, 1961. She was preceded in death by her mother, Bernice Elizabeth Lewis Whitaker and her sister, Sandra Lynn Whitaker Edwards. A longtime member of Foundation of Truth Ministries, JoAnn retired after 18 years working for the State of North Carolina. She enjoyed special occasions and family gatherings especially when it involved watching scary movies. JoAnn was an avid reader, loved cooking for family and friends, and enjoyed traveling with her special circle of friends. A loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, JoAnn will be dearly missed and forever loved by all those who knew her. JoAnn is survived by her husband of 39 years, Jeffrey “Jeff” Williams; her daughter, Tynisha Moore and husband Reggie; her sons, James Williams, Mykal Williams, and Jesse Williams; her grandchildren, Mykayla Moore, Reshon Moore, and Olivia Williams; her father, Jesse A. Whitaker, Sr.; her brothers, Jesse Whitakers, Jr. and wife Sabonia, Shawn Whitaker and wife Tonja, and Ron Whitaker and wife Elaine; her sister, Angela Jeffery and husband Cary; a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family; and many close friends. A Funeral Service to Celebrate JoAnn’s life will be held on Tuesday, September 27, 2022, at 3:00 PM in the Chapel of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Pastor Daniel Battle officiating. Burial will follow the service at Jones Family Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM prior to the service in the Atrium of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home. Arrangements entrusted to Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 1130 N. Winstead Avenue, Rocky Mount, NC 27804.
