Jerry V. Medlin

Rocky Mount - Jerry Vernell Medlin, age 81, passed away on Monday, September 7, 2015. Born in Nash County, NC on March 1, 1934, he was the son of the late Clifton Medlin and Alvarada "Rada" Cone Medlin. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Maybell Brantley and his brothers, James Curtis Medlin, Felton Medlin, Norman Lee Medlin and Bill Medlin. Jerry retired from Burlington Industries after 46 years. He also worked as clerk at the Sharpsburg Church of God for 17 years. He was a long time member of Ridgecrest Worship Center, where he shared his deep rooted faith with everyone he knew. He enjoyed going camping with his family and friends. He will be truly missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. Jerry leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife of 56 years, Peggy Medlin, his daughter, Linda Diane Kelley and her husband, Victor, of Elm City, NC and his son Jerry Neil Medlin and his wife, Doris, of Rocky Mount. He is survived by his grandchildren, David Manning and his wife, Amy; Crystal Wheaton, Robert Kelley and his wife, Jessica, Katarina and Tyler Medlin; his great-grandchildren, Summer Wheaton, Patience Wheaton, Isaac Wheaton and Savannah Kelley. He is also survived by sisters, Modell Bell of Rocky Mount and Rose Whitley of Wilson, NC. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at 7:00pm at Ridgecrest Worship Center, 1120 West Mount Drive, Rocky Mount, NC with Rev. Melvin Schuler and Pastor Kelly Shope officiating. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service. A Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, September 10, 2015 at 11:00am at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in memory of Jerry to Ridgecrest Outreach/Reaching with Compassion, 1120 West Mount Drive, Rocky Mount, NC 27803.
