WHITAKERS - Jerry Edmond Mott, Sr., age 74, passed away on Saturday, May 22, 2021. Born in Orange, TX on January 1, 1947, he was the son of the late Avis Mott and Rosa Mae Alexander Mott. He was also preceded in death by his son, Joseph Mott; and his brother, Stephen Ronald "Ronnie" Mott.
Jerry was a veteran of the United States Army. A great man with a sense of humor second to none, there wasn't a joke he didn't know, hadn't told, or a story unworthy of sharing with those in his company which would always fill the room with laughter and smiles. True to his Cajun heritage, Jerry was unafraid to tell it as it was and to remind you of his coonass upbringing. A personality which was larger than life, he welcomed anyone into his family and his devotion and love for all was well recognized. It was always a treat when "Papa Mott" would visit both friends and strangers at the Java Mott's Coffee house. Having grown up in the outdoors, Jerry loved to hunt and fish. A dedicated and loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and dear friend, Papa Mott will be forever missed and never forgotten.
Jerry is survived by his wife Lynne Marie Mott; his sons, Jerry Mott, Jr. (Karen), Christopher Mott (Denise), Robert Mott, John Mott (Victoria), David VanValkenburg; his daughters, Mona Mott, Crystal Pyle (Anthony), Kay Lynne VanValkenburg; Courtney (Shawn) VanValkenburg; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and his sister, Belinda Kay.

It just seem like yesterday you had welcome us to the neighborhood. When we needed our grass cut you were there. Not often but my hubby would come over to see if you needed help with anything or just to have a conversation. You were a great neighbor Jerry, you will be tremendously missed, the neighborhood will not be the same. Art and Sarah Hayes
