ROCKY MOUNT – Janie Bridges Lucero, age 84, passed away on Wednesday, January 17, 2024. Born in Johnston County, NC on December 12, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Jimmie Olen Bridges, Sr. and Callie Green Burchette Bridges. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Peggy Joyce Bridges Ellis, Mary Elizabeth Bridges and Frances Bridges Newton. Janie is survived by her daughter, Debra DuBose (Jon); her sons, Mark Lucero (Melanie), Michael Lucero, and John Lucero; her grandchildren, Hannah Tilley (Ben), Logan Lucero, and Olen Lucero; her sisters, Geneva Bridges Wood, Rebecca "Becky" Bridges Wall, and Katherine Bridges Casey; her brother, Jimmy Olen Bridges, Jr.; and numerous nieces and nephews. A Graveside Service to celebrate Janie’s life will be held on Monday, January 22, 2024, at 1:00 PM in the Rocky Mount Memorial Park with Elder Verlene Leonard of St. Mary Church of Christ officiating.
