James Samuel "Sammy" Boone

SHARPSBURG – James Samuel “Sammy” Boone, age 78, passed away on Tuesday, October 24, 2023. Born in Nash County, NC on February 28, 1945, he was the son of the late John Harvey Boone and Nannie Rea Hendricks Boone. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Leggett Boone. Sammy is survived by his two stepsons, Gregory Allen "Greg" Harrington and Tony James Sawyer; and numerous cousins, extended family and friends. A Funeral Service to celebrate Sammy’s life will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2023, at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 1130 N. Winstead Ave., Rocky Mount, NC 27804, with Rev. Billy Webb officiating. Burial will follow the service at Mill Branch Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM prior to the service in the Atrium of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
