James Roger Ward

James Roger Ward, age 85, passed away on Monday, December 15, 2014. He was born in Nash County on March 18, 1929, to the late George Dempsey Ward and Carrie Sledge Ward. James was also predeceased by his sister, Annie Mae Saunders and husband, John and one brother, William Bill Ward.
James had a love of Nascar racing and spent many years driving for North Slade Transportation.
James is survived by his significant other of thirty years, Cornelia (Connie) Lewis. He is also survived by several loving nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00pm on Thursday, December 18, 2014 at Fishing Creek Baptist Church, 15150 Avent Road, Whitakers, NC 27891. Burial will follow at Pineview Cemetery, Rocky Mount, NC.

I worked in the office at NORTH STATE MOTOR LINES INC. in Rocky Mount, N.C. and always enjoyed seeing and talking to Roger. He always had friendly smile and each year I knew I was going to get a gift box of pickles from Mount Olive Pickle Co. A dedicated Trucker for many years and was certainly an asset to our company.
