ELM CITY - Imogene Mitchell Parrish, 69, passed away Thursday, April 15, 2010. She was born January 4, 1941 in Bath, S.C. , daughter of the late Coley and Hazel Mitchell. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Gerald Mitchell and Leon Mitchell. Imogene was warm hearted and enjoyed being with her family and friends and especially her companion Spencer. She leaves to cherish her memory, her devoted husband of 52 years, Lawrence Courtney Parrish; children, Chrystal Sipple of the home, Courtney Brette Parrish of Rocky Mount, and Brian E. Parrish of Winston Salem; and grandchildren, Courtney Sipple of the home, Hannah Parrish, Wesley Parrish, and Rand Parrish of Winston Salem. A funeral service to celebrate Imogene's life will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, April 17, 2010 at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home with Dr. Carleton McKita officiating. Visitation with the family will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Kidney Society, Suite 1010, 6110 Executive Blvd., Rockville MD 20852.
