Homer Braswell Vernon

WHITAKERS, NC - Homer Braswell Vernon, age 65, passed away on Monday, June 1, 2015. Born in Cumberland County, NC to Helen Braswell Vernon of Whitakers and the late Herman E. Vernon. Besides his mother, he is survived by his cousins, Al Wright and Al's wife Denise of Whitakers, NC, Janet Cannon and her daughter Mandy of Greenville, NC, Virginia Wright of Greenville, NC, Kathy Davenport of Indianapolis, IN; and numerous Vernon Family cousins. Homer was a lifelong member of Whitakers United Methodist Church, active in church leadership, a graduate of Rocky Mount Senior High School and Wake Forest University in Winston Salem, NC with a BA degree in History. Curious and multi-talented we will miss his sense of humor, wisdom and kind ways. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00pm on Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at Whitakers United Methodist Church, 104 Pippen Street, Whitakers, NC with Dr. Stephen Bradley officiating. A private burial will be at Whitakers Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 1130 N. Winstead Avenue, Rocky Mount, NC 27804.
