Hilda House Soden

ROCKY MOUNT – Hilda House Soden, age 88, passed away on Friday, March 29, 2024. Born in Franklin County, NC on December 8, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Eddie Hilliard House and Rhue Gupton House. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William Soden, IV; her sister, Lucille House Denton; her brother-in-law, JB Denton; and her special great nephew, Matthew McCormick. Hilda was a long-time member of Edgemont Baptist Church where she was embraced and loved by her church family and friends. She retired as a Trust Clerk from People’s Bank after 37 years. A loving aunt and dear friend to many, Hilda will be deeply missed and forever loved. Hilda is survived by her niece, Ava D. Addington (Kenneth); her great niece, Caitlin Shoultz; her great-great nieces, Alana and Alyssa McCormick; her special friends, Randy and Penny Neville; and her extended family and friends. A Memorial Graveside Service to celebrate Hilda’s life will be held on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Rocky Mount Memorial Park Chapel on the Hill Mausoleum, 4454 Dortches Blvd., Rocky Mount, NC 27804, with Rev. Mike Edwards and Rev. Bennett Carlton Cockrell officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Hilda’s name to Edgemont Baptist Church’s Building Fund, 1622 West Mount Drive, Rocky Mount, NC 27803. Arrangements entrusted to Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 1130 N. Winstead Avenue, Rocky Mount, NC 27804.

  4. My heart goes out to all that knew Hilda. She will always be remembered as a loving, sweet friend. I worked with her for 17 years in the Trust Dept and I have never forgotten her quick smile and the willingness to help me learn when I started work there. Even when our lives took different directions, I have never forgotten her. May you rest in peace with God and your Billie..
