Henry Cooper Edmondson

ROCKY MOUNT - Henry Cooper Edmondson, age 64, passed away on Saturday, April 29, 2017. Born in Edgecombe County, NC, on November 7, 1952, he was the son of the late Charles Thomas Edmondson, Sr. and Lanie Tolston Edmondson. He was also preceded in death by two of his siblings, Barbara Edmondson Johnson and Charles Thomas "CT" Edmondson, Jr. Henry graduated from Rocky Mount Senior High School in 1971. He was drafted, joined the United States Navy, and was able to attend East Carolina University for one year before serving his country as Yeoman 2nd Class Petty Officer from 1972 to 1976. He earned his Associate's Degree in Accounting from Nash Community College. He went on to work with his father at Edmondson Accounting Service and eventually took over the family business. Henry was an avid ECU supporter and fan through the good times and bad. He was a dedicated member of the ECU Pirate Club, West Edgecombe Ruritan Club, and Rocky Mount Evening Optimist Club. Henry loved ECU and was known for his tailgating, Brunswick Stew, and ECU road trips. He was a member of Englewood United Methodist Church. Henry was a loving husband, father, G-Daddy, and friend and will be dearly missed by all those who knew him. Henry leaves behind to cherish his memory, wife of 42 years, Llewellyn Worsley Edmondson; daughters, Kelley Edmondson Tyndall and husband, Chris, of Rocky Mount; and Ashley Edmondson Van Liere and husband, Daniel, of Greenville. He is also survived by grandchildren, Darcy Anne Tyndall, Ayden Lane Tyndall, Stella Reagan Van Liere, and Henry Thatcher Van Liere; sister, Dianne Edmondson Scheibe and husband, Dick; and six nieces. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Englewood United Methodist Church, 300 S. Circle Drive, Rocky Mount with the Rev. Terry Williams and Rev. Jim Bell officiating. Burial will follow at Brake Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 from 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Englewood United Methodist Church, 300 S. Circle Drive, Rocky Mount, NC 27804 or Boys & Girls Homes of North Carolina, Inc., Credit Club: Rocky Mount Evening Optimist Club, 400 Flemington Drive, Lake Waccamaw, NC 28450.   6. Being a employee for 22 years at Edmondon Accounting Services. I can truly say u had to know him to love him. What a kind and loving individual. Never meet a stranger everyone was a friend.   12. Henry will always be remembered for his ability to bring a quick smile to anyone who talked with him. He just had a personality that was people friendly. I know that the pirate family will miss him, but his family will always have him in their hearts.

  13. Henry did my taxes for over 35 years. He was more than my tax preparer, I counted him as a dear friend. We played racquetball almost every day for several years. We ate lunch together a couple of times over the past 3 weeks. My heart has been broken since I learned of his passing and my prayers go out for Llewellyn and the family. This is a great loss for all who knew him. I thank God that I had the opportunity to know and call him my friend. Harry R. Kahn

Playing golf, hanging out at the MNO farm, eating his brunswick stew, getting my taxes done at the last minute to name a few.
