CASTALIA - Helen Marie Stallings Pittman, age 77, passed away on Wednesday, May 30, 2018. Born in Franklin County, NC on September 18, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Stallings and Julia Moore Stallings.
As a teenager, Helen's first job began with Central Caf. Later, she would go on to work for Burlington Industries and Texfi Industries until her retirement. Following her retirement, Helen then returned to Central Caf where she enjoyed visiting with her longtime customers, many whom would ask for her by name.
Helen leaves behind to cherish her memory her son, Jimmy Pittman and his wife, Jo Lynne, of Rocky Mount; her grandchildren, Christina Strickland, Stacey Cashwell and her husband Stephen, and Matthew Pittman and his wife Rachel; and great-grandchildren, Tristan, Caden, and Levy Brantley, Tyler and Kayli Cashwell, and Juliana Pittman. She is also survived by her brother, Ralph Stallings and his wife Phyllis; and sister, Mary Baker and her husband Eddie Kennedy.
A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held on Friday, June 1, 2018 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services.

I meet Ms. Pittman at Autumn Care. I would see her out in the hall, I would stop and ask her how are you doing, she would tell fine. My mother in law called her smiley. So when I saw her that’s what I would call her she always had a smile on her face. To the family of Ms. Pittman I am so sorry for your lose. My she rest in peace. A Bunn
I meet Mrs. Pittman at Autumn Care. I would see out in the hall she always had a smile on her face my mother in law called her smiley, so when I saw I would talk with her I would always ask her she was doing, she would tell fine.
