Hazel Overton Boykin

ROCKY MOUNT - Hazel Overton Boykin, age 83, passed away on Thursday, August 23, 2018. Born in Edgecombe County, NC on October 28, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Charlie "Harry" Harrison Overton and Rosa Dew Harrington. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Anderson "Jack" Boykin; a son, Kenneth Michael Lane; a grandson, Christopher Lee Lane; and her first husband, Joseph Stanley Lane, Sr. Hazel leaves behind to cherish her memory, two sons; Joseph “Joe” Stanley Lane, Jr. and wife, Dianna, Robert “Bob” Harrison Lane and wife, Jan; one daughter, Donna Paige Gillam; her brother, Clifton "Cliff" Lee Harrington and wife, Lois Ann; her sister, Lois Faye Overton Bartholow; grandchildren, Joey, Tina, Kevin, Kristin, Keith and wife, Shelley Lane; seven great-grandchildren; and one great great-granddaughter. The family will receive friends and relatives on Sunday, August 26, 2018 from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM at Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home. A private Graveside Service will be officiated by Pastor Lin Robinson and Chaplain Michael Goga at Greenwood Cemetery in Tarboro.   1. I am so sorry for the loss of your dear loved one. There is a very comforting scripture found at Isaiah 258. It says that soon Jehovah will swallow up death forever and that he will wipe away all of the tears. So we can look forward to a time when death will be done away with forever. I hope that this scripture can bring some comfort during this time.
