Rocky Mount - Hayes W. Carroll, age 93, passed away on Saturday, January 23, 2016. Born in Lancaster County, PA, he was the son of the late Wilford Carroll and Alice Brown Charles. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Jean Milton Carroll and his daughter, Linda Carroll Miller.
Hayes was a veteran of WWII and the Korean War, having served in the United States Navy. A man of great faith, he was a member of Englewood United Methodist Church. He enjoyed teaching wood working and building things with his hands. An honorary member of Wilson Area Railroad Modelers (W.A.R.M.), he especially enjoyed building and operating his model trains. He was also a member of the Elk's Lodge of Rocky Mount. Hayes was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and will be dearly missed by all those who knew him.
Hayes leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife, Mae Felton Carroll; his sons, Larry L. Jennings of Richmond, VA and David M. Carroll and his wife, Teresa, of Charlotte; and his daughters, Deborah Rumble and her husband, Clay, of Charlotte; Jayne Alice Pridgen of Kenly; and Patricia Grace Lane of Collinsville, TX. He is also survived by his 17 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Englewood United Methodist Church, 300 S. Circle Drive, Rocky Mount, NC with Pastor John Dutton officiating. Burial will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service.
