Gwendolyn Rooks Porter

On May 4, 2010, Gwendolyn Carol Rooks Porter was taken into the presence of Jesus. Her courage and strength through sickness radiated in her magnificent smile. Her charisma and positive outlook never gave room to complaining during times of adversity. She is survived by her husband, Joseph Evrid Porter; children, Alicia Carol Porter, Joseph Sherwood Eugene Porter and Lorrin Elizabeth Porter; grandson, Jordan Wesley Porter; sisters, Angela Rooks Casey and Germaine Rooks Dunn; nieces, Meridith Carol Casey, Hillary Morgan Casey; nephews, Benjamin Paul Dunn and Jeremy Thomas; and sister-in-law, Ann Porter Thomas. As Gwen drew her strength and courage from Jesus, we also must draw strength and courage in the hope of Jesus. A memorial service to celebrate Gwen's life will be held at 1:00p.m. Saturday, May 8, 2010 at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Coffey officiating.
