Grace Belle Pruden Lewis

Grace Belle Pruden Lewis, age 94, passed away on Sunday, January 31, 2016. Born in Jackson, Northampton County, NC on February 2, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Luther Cuthbert Pruden and Harriett Wilson Fleetwood Pruden Brown. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Calvan Lewis, formerly of Enfield and Rocky Mount; her sister, Mildred Thelma Jordan; her brother, Julian “Buddy or Bear” Cuthbert Pruden; and her brother, James Robert “Country” Pruden; and one great-nephew, Devin and one great-niece, Donna. Mrs. Lewis was the former owner of Jeans Beauty Shop in Rocky Mount NC, member of Lakeside Baptist Church, member of Rocky Mount Garden Club, and avid doll collector and member of numerous doll clubs. Mrs. Lewis leaves behind to cherish her memory, her guardian and great-niece, Harriett Paige Tucker, seven nieces and nephews; 11 great-nieces and nephews; and numerous great-great nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Miriam Warren Pruden of Jackson, NC; and special friend, Selma Ward Davis of Smithfield, NC. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home Cremation Services with Dr. Jody Wright officiating. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at 2:00 PM at Jackson Cemetery, Jackson, NC.
