Glenn Philip Davis

February 28, 1946 ~ January 4, 2024

ROCKY MOUNT – Glenn Philip Davis, age 77, passed away on Thursday, January 4, 2024. Born in Brookline, MA on February 28, 1946, he was the son of the late Julian Davis and Mildred Jordan Davis. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Jean Davis Hodges. Glenn is survived by his wife of 54 years, Janice Burda Davis; his daughters, Chrystal Davis Greiner and husband, Eric, of York, PA, Stephanie Davis Day and husband, Jack, of Winthrop, ME, and Sharon Davis Pinto and husband, David, of Williamsburg, VA; his son, Col. Aaron Davis of Tampa, FL; his grandchildren, Taylor Day, Noah Greiner, Cameron Day, Hayden Greiner, Sofia Pinto, Nathaniel Pinto, and Eva Pinto; his brother, Ronald Davis and wife, Peggy; and his sister-in-law, Jackie Quackenbush and husband, David. Glenn graduated with a B.S. from the University of Tampa. He continued his education by earning his Master's Degree while serving in the United States Air Force. Glenn liked to say he wore multiple “hats” when relating to his family, community, and work with various recovery centers and charities. He had the unique opportunity to influence countless individuals through his years as a Principal and Administrator of multiple private schools, Recovery Coach, Teen Challenge counselor, business owner (Ell's Court Motel in FL, Hobby Depot in CA, and King's Hill Inn Bed & Breakfast and Wedding Barn in ME), traveler, Bible study leader, Sunday School teacher, and his 20 years as a Small Business Advisor with SCORE. In addition to his unwavering faith and his incredibly loved family, Glenn had a passion for restoring and showcasing his classic cars. He also participated in archeological digs in Israel, researched family genealogy, painted several oil paintings, had a true talent as an Independent Contractor (primarily building & landscaping), and never missed a Boston Bruins game – no matter the hour or their ranking. From cooking blueberry pancakes for Bed & Breakfast guests to teaching his children how to maneuver a 500-pound Gravely lawnmower, identifying a phillips head screwdriver and using the right straight-edge paintbrush, Glenn/Dad/Grampy was always teaching those who wanted to learn. He taught about God. He taught about how to love our neighbors. He was a role model and “adopted father” to many who did not have the kind of father his children knew. He was truly the wisest, most respected, most hard-working man. A celebration of Glenn’s life will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at 2:00 PM at the home of Glenn and Janice with Pastor Luke Lunceford and Rev. Bill Grisham officiating. A Reception will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Glenn’s memory to Faith Bible Church of Tarboros Immanuel House (or payable to FBC), 1343 McNair Road, Tarboro, NC 27886. Arrangements entrusted to Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 1130 N. Winstead Avenue, Rocky Mount, NC 27804. 1. We pray the love of God enfolds you during your journey through grief. Our hearts and prayers are with each of you, Love, Drew and Betty

  2. Our deepest condolences. Robbie and I are saddened by this. We pray gor strength during this difficult time🙏

  3. Glenn was a terrific mentor and friend to granddaughters Taylor and Cameron. He spent significant time with them making breakfast at King’s Hill Inn, working in the yard and then entertaining them with endless reruns of SpongeBob Squarepants – but the channel was always diverted to hockey when the Bruins were playing. Glenn truly took interest in our children, providing much advice, guidance and Biblical instruction. He and Janice have been very significant contributors to our very blessed lives. Glenn’s truly amazing vocational skills were a source of amazement and inspiration to me. He was an extremely skilled carpenter and mechanic, who completed all tasks with very high level of perfection. If Glenn initiated a project, it was flawlessly finished. I will always remain impressed by that level of commitment to executing a task very well. Thank you for inspiring me, Glenn. Jack Day

  4. With fond memories of Glenn (and his precious family). We extend our love and deepest sympathies. May God surround you all with his love and comfort.
    Prayerfully,
    Tom and Lori Obey

  5. Janice, we were saddened to hear of Glenn’s passing. We only knew Glenn for a short time but knew of his commitment of doing the Lord’s work in our community. Please know that you and your family are in our thoughts and prayers.

  6. Grand memories of our times at First Baptist Church in Braintree, MA.
We so enjoyed our extended visit in Maine – yes indeed Glenn’s blueberry pancakes were delicious. We had great laughs giving his dog a haircut!
