Glenda Langley Johnson

ROCKY MOUNT - Glenda Langley Johnson, age 56, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 17, 2021 surrounded by her husband and family by her bedside. Born in Edgecombe County, NC on August 11, 1964, she was the daughter of the late Aaron and Ernestine Langley, and raised by Floyd Sanford. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Aaron and Mike Langley; and her sisters, Diane Langley and Celia Edmondson. Glenda leaves behind to cherish her memory, her loving husband of 38 years, Tommy Johnson; her son, Wayne Johnson and wife, Pamela, of Rocky Mount; her step-daughters, Cathy Overton and husband Michael, of Battleboro, Kimberly Burns of Newport News, VA; her grandchildren, Daniel Overton and wife, Elizabeth, Lainey Overton, Austin Overton, Tommy Cervantes, Adrianna Cervantes, Joseph Cervantes; her great-grandchildren, Raylee Overton, Annaylee Cervantes, Khloe Flores; her brother, Alvin Langley; her sisters-in-law, Donna Langley, Tammy Edmondson, Betty Pierce, Becky Johnson; her brothers-in-law, Melvin Edmondson, Dan Pierce, Terry Johnson; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and her extended family from her 40 years of racing and tractor pulling. A Funeral Service to celebrate Glenda's life will be held on Thursday, January 21, 2021 at 2:30 PM in the Chapel of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Pastor Johnny Edmondson officiating. Burial will follow the service at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. Visitation with the family will be from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM prior to the service in the Atrium of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Cathy and Michael Overton in Battleboro. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the family is requesting the need for social distancing and wearing of masks due to health concerns faced around our nation at this time. Flowers are welcome.   1. WE BECAME BECAME FRIENDS INSTANTLY WHEN WE MET. I LOVED GOING TO YOUR STORE AND BROWSING AND SITTING AND JUST CHATTING. YOU WERE WHAT PEOPLE CALL AN OLD SOUL. YOU SHOWED EVERYONE YOU CAME IN CONTACT WITH LOVE AND CARING. LOVED OUR TALKS EVEN THOUGH NOT AS MANY AS IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN. BUT LIFE GETS IN THE WAY SOMETIMES. LOVED GOING OUT TO EAT AT PARKER’S BBQ. EATING FAMILY STYLE. BECAUSE THAT IS WHAT WE WERE SISTER. TOMMY YOU WERE HER LIFE AS WAS HER FAMILY AND FRIENDS. I KNOW YOU FEEL LOST RIGHT NOW BUT YOU ARE SURROUNDED BY PEOPLE WHO LOVE YOU. JOE AND I LOVE YOU TOO. WISH WE COULD BE THERE BUT COVID HAS GOTTEN IN THE WAY.. MY HEART IS BROKEN BUT NOW WE ALL HAVE AN ANGEL ON OUR SHOULDERS…

My condolence to the family, My thoughts, Prayers, hugs and Love going out to all her family, Glenda you’ll be missed by many and I’ll never forget the time we spent together in our younger days, I was only 18 and you just a couple years younger than me and so many days you would come and spend the day with me and my baby joshua, I’ll always cherish the memories we had together no matter how long it had been seeing we had seen each other i still loved you and still love you now even though you’re gone, you go rest high on that mountain with your sister’s and your brother and watch over your family now that you’re a beautiful Angel, you are she we’re such a special person and we’ll all miss you until we meet again
