Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. Don, Betty, EllaMae, Vickie and Family Our hearts are heavy, yet filled with wonderful memories of your Mother during her time spent here in Macclesfield. I did her hair for quite a while, however she informed me each week that i was not her hairdresser and the next thing she would ask where was the candy dish! When kids came in the shop, her face would always light up. She really loved kids, I loved her and will miss her.

  2. As a child I remember Aunt Gladys coming to visit one summer and sitting down in the kitchen floor to play jacks with us. We kids were amazed that she was so good at the game (she beat us) and that she could fold her legs up like a kid and sit cross legged. I also see her in my mind tossing back her head and laughing. There always seemed to be a sweet smile on her face. She will ALWAYS be in SUNSHINE to me.

  3. Dear Vickie, I was very sorry to learn of the death of your mother. I know that there is little I can say that will help, but I wanted you to know that you have my heartfelt sympathy. If there is any way that I may be of assistance to you, please do not hesitate to call upon me. Sincerely, Frederick E. Turnage

  4. We had the pleasure of meeting Gladys only once, when she visited her daughter in law, (my sister) Margaret Sallee and her family in Australia. Gladys was accompanied by Hilda Howell, and we were pleased to read that Hilda was able to officiate at the service of her close and long time friend. When Margaret lived in Rocky Mount with Bill and their young family she would write and tell us how much she enjoyed being involved in the numerous family gatherings that were so important to Gladys and Chester. She also told us about the love and the valuable support she and her young family received from Gladys and her extended family. Our parents Les and Gwen Bray also told us how much they enjoyed pig picking with Gladys and Chester and their wonderful family. We saw many photos of these amazing family gatherings. Our thoughts are with all Gladys’s family and friends at this sad time. But we know you will have many wonderful memories to help ease the pain and together you will help one another deal with her loss just as we will try to help Andre, Greg, Karen and their young families. Peter and Maree Bray Traralgon, Victoria , Australia.
