Giles Andrew Emery

Giles Andrew Emery Jr., age 79, went home to the Lord surrounded by family and friends on Sunday, November 3, 2013. Born in Beaufort County on January 6, 1934, he was the son of the late Giles Andrew Emery Sr. and Catherine Barton Emery. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Robert Emery. Mr. Emery retired honorably with 21 years of service with the United States Navy and afterwards, he worked with Halifax Engineering as a Bridge and Lock Operator and retired in 2007. He leaves behind his wife of 54 years, Patricia Robertson Emery; son, Timothy Scott Emery and wife Kristin; grandson, Chase Lewis; sister, Vivian Emery Elks and husband Ray; and cousin, Cathy Edwards. A service to remember Giles will be held at 2:00pm Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home with Rev. David Whitley officiating. Visitation with the family will follow the service. Burial will take place at 2:00pm Thursday afternoon at Chesapeake Memorial Gardens, 524 Cedar Road, Chesapeake VA with Bishop Randy Wooden officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka KS 66675 or Friends of Hospice of Nash General, 2460 Curtis Ellis Drive, Rocky Mount NC 27804.
