George Leeford "Booney" Boone, Jr. died peacefully and entered heaven's gates on February 11, 2015 in Rocky Mount, NC at the age of 71.
Booney was born on January 12th in Rocky Mount to George and Mary Boone. He graduated from Benvenue High School in 1962 and North Carolina State University in 1966 with a degree in engineering. Booney was a generous individual who loved collecting antiques and treasures. In retirement, he regularly volunteered at InJoy, a thrift store operated on Christian principles. He also enjoyed working with the Compassion Caf. He was also an active and dedicated member of Red Oak Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and was a servant of the Lord and his church in countless other capacities.

Please accept our deepest condolences for your family’s loss.
I only met Mr. Boone once, last year in Barboursville, WV. He and his wife were attending their son’s (Capt. Lee Boone) promotion cookout. I was so impressed by his handshake and genuine welcoming personality. He made me feel as if I was a long lost friend. My thoughts and prayers are with the Boone family. Jerry L. Beckett
Very sorry to hear about the passing of Booney. He was a real person that was always happy and cordial to all that I know. We would always stop in for hot dogs and a short chat, when he was in. My condolences to all his family. Harold Nobles…CA
Every morning when my husband Little Joe got off work he would go by Booney’s to order two hot dogs and a dr pepper, he would tell me for years the best hot dogs in Rocky Mount came from Booney’s, one day we stopped by there and Mr Boone was there, he knew everyone that came into the store and knew what most of them would order. He was so friendly, and even took time to sit and talk to us for a few minutes. We did go back often for the best hot dogs in Rocky Mount. Your family will be in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Booney!! How do you even begin to tell about how great this man was!! Everywhere you go in Rocky Mount, all you had to say was Booney and all knew who you meant. What a great Father in law to our son! Our families share so many good times together during holidays and grandkid birthdays and other events. We always enjoyed eating at the Hotdog Stand and even going a time or two to the lake. To a wonderful, kind, and wise man—Booney will be missed greatly! To our daughter in law, Jennifer, we are so happy to be a part of your family and share all the good times! Our prayers go out to Marilyn and all of the Boone family. Love you all!
