Francie Joyner Smith

Francie Joyner Smith, age 62, passed away Thursday, October 20, 2011. She was born on March 29, 1949 in Nash County to Oliver D. Joyner and the late Geneva Beaman Joyner. She married Charles David Smith on November 29, 1968. Francie is survived by her father, Oliver D. Joyner (Ruth); her devoted husband of 42 years, Charles David Smith; their two daughters, Deana Baker (James Battle) of Nashville NC and Wendy Ziegler (Gerald) of Morrisville NC; four grandchildren, Samantha and Patrick Baker, Marissa Battle and Enid Ziegler; and her brother, Kenneth Joyner (Judy) of Wilmington NC. Visitation with the family will be 1:30pm - 2:45pm Sunday, October 23, 2011 at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 3:00pm in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Justin Nale officiating. Burial will be at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Breast Cancer Research, 8300 Health Park, Suite 10, Raleigh NC 27615 or American Heart Association, P.O. Box 5216 Glenn Allen VA 23058.
