ROCKY MOUNT - Frances Louise King Denton, age 85, went to be with her Lord and Savior on January 2, 2019. Born in Franklin County, NC on April 5, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Preston King and Belle Elizabeth Dennis King. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Dick Isham Denton; stepmother, Mary Helen Griffin Radford; brother, James King; sister, Carey Jones.
Frances was the eldest of eight children. She married the love of her life, Isham, when she was only 15 and he was 28 years old on October 21, 1948. They eloped to Chesterfield, S.C. They were married for over 56 years until his death on August 4, 2005. Mrs. Denton loved to work in her rose gardens, often sharing pictures of them with her doctors, friends, and acquaintances. She was a naturally talented singer and often used old hymns to minister to others in her later years. Her grandchildren also have one-of-a-kind "selfies" with Grandma and many treasured moments of laughter and memories shared.
Mrs. Denton leaves two daughters to cherish her memory, Elizabeth Jones, Barbara Stallings and her husband, Ricky; sisters, Mary Rocha, Mamie Faulkner and Laura Tyson; brothers, Thomas Bryant and Preston King, Jr; 4 grandchildren, Ferrell Jones, Jr. and his wife, Sally, Ashley Keeler and her husband, Jeremy, Stephanie Stallings and Jonathan Stallings.
A Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, January 6, 2019 at 3:00 PM at Englewood Baptist Church, 1350 S. Winstead Ave., Rocky Mount, NC 27804 with Rev. Michael Cloer officiating. Burial will follow the service at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. Visitation with the family will be from 2:00 PM to 2:45 PM prior to the service in the church.
