Florence Edith Turner

Florence Edith Turner, age 85, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, April 15, 2017. She was born on February 3, 1932, to the late William Otha Turner and Florence Leller Privette Turner. Edith was a dedicated sister, aunt, and friend and was devoted to caring for her family. She was preceded in death by her sister, Evelyn Turner Tuttle and her three brothers, Romie, Milton, and Howard Turner. Edith was a native of Nash County and a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. After she received her business degree, she was employed with the City of Rocky Mount in the purchasing department and later became the Purchasing Agent for the State of North Carolina until her retirement after over 25 years of service. During her spare time, Edith was known to enjoy cross stitching and needlepoint, an art she mastered after many years. She could always be found shopping around for various antiques and had built up a valuable collection over time. Edith's home-place was always open for family and friends to enjoy a meal and conversation, followed always by one of her delicious baked desserts. She would always enjoy hosting holiday meals and special events, for which she would whip up any number of entrees from one of her many cook books. Edith leaves to cherish her memory her sister, Jackie Turner Taylor and her husband, Gary, of Greenville; her brother, Jerome Turner and his wife, Reba, of Nashville; her sister-in-law Marie Turner of Rocky Mount; and numerous nieces and nephews. A Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Pineview Cemetery, 761 E Raleigh Blvd, Rocky Mount, NC 27803. Family will receive friends and relatives on Monday, April 17, 2017 from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM at her brother's home, Jerome and Reba Turner, 200 Woodfield Drive, Nashville, NC 27856.
