Flora Mae Smith, age 101, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, April 03, 2015. She was born in Horry County, SC on February 11, 1914 to the late John Stokes Smith and Claudia Frye Smith. She is predeceased by her husband, Charles Smith; one daughter, Ann Ratcliff; her son, Walter Viverette; three sisters, Elberta Dawes, Winnie Bizzell, and Elwood Holmes; and her five brothers, Gilbert Smith, Gordon Smith, Billy Smith, Donald Smith and Delwin Smith.
A woman of strong will and faith, Flora Mae was a devout Christian whose faith could not be broken. A lifelong member of Ridgecrest Worship Center, formally known as South Rocky Mount Church of God, she was the oldest living active member of the Eastern North Carolina Church of God. An iconic member of the Church, Flora Mae instilled her love for God and for the Church in each of her precious children leaving behind a legacy to follow. In addition to her faith, she as well carried a strong work ethic, retiring first from Schotland Mills after 45 years of service and later retired from Baxter-Kelly after another 8 years of devotion.
She was a loving mother, the center core of her family, and an inspiration to her friends and those who knew her. Always the one to take care of her family, Flora Mae ensured everyone was taken care of and raised her family to take care of each other. She enjoyed the company of her children and grandchildren and especially cherished the moments her family came together to share meals and special occasions. Flora Mae had a smile that could light up any room and brighten any day.

So sorry for your loss but I remember calling her my granny
I called her Ma. She always had a smile for me and showed me love. I will miss this sweet lady.
