Ferman “Dud” White Hux

ENFIELD - Ferman "Dud" White Hux, age 90, passed away on Monday, May 11, 2020. Born in Halifax County, NC on July 29, 1929, he was the son of the late Herbert Hugh Hux and Waverly Jean Keeter Hux. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Mary Sue Hux; brothers, twin Herman Hux, Herbert Hux; and sister, Carolyn Hux. Dud served in the United States Army during the Korean War and earned a Purple Heart. He was an honest, trustworthy, and hardworking man who loved his family dearly. Dud would always make it a point to greet others with a smile and enjoyed agitating family and friends. He loved growing things in his garden, especially, collards, and making pear preserves and his famous barbeque sauce. Dud was a loving husband, father, papa, great-grandfather and will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him. Dud leaves behind to cherish his memory, daughters, Debbie Blackmon and husband, Freddie, of Whitakers, Lynette Cahoon and husband, Russell, of Roanoke Rapids, Jan Saunders and husband, Kenny, of Enfield. He is also survived by grandchildren, Denise Worsley and husband, Mike, of Greenville, Lora Lipe and husband, Greg, of Concord, Christopher Cahoon of Roanoke Rapids, Amanda Cahoon of Pleasant Hill, Jessica Allen and husband, Daniel, of Red Oak, Davis Saunders of Raleigh; great-grandchildren, Braxton Worsley, Addison Worsley, McKenzie Lipe, Mia Lipe, Benjamin Feid and Sydney Allen; sister, Beulah Mullinax of Belmont; and sister-in-law, Jessie Hux of Florence, SC. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, May 14, 2020 at 1:00 PM in the Chapel of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Pastor Dennis Gregory, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow the service at Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM prior to the service in the Atrium of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home. You guys are in our thoughts and prayers and if Robert and I can do anything to help at this time, please do not hesitate to ask.   6. What a wonderful man, a wonderful neighbor! Dud was one who I always heard positive things about whenever comments were shared by my Mom & Dad. I grew up with him just down the street and I knew him for a wonderful smile and him always helping my Mom in more recent times whenever something was up with her car!   7. I’m so very sorry for your loss😢He will certainly be missed far & wide, for he was a great man & I had fond memories of him myself, as well as my dad did too.
