Esther Mae Eason

ROCKY MOUNT - Esther Mae Eason, age 67, passed away on Thursday, July 30, 2020. Born in Edgecombe County, NC on May 21, 1953, she was the daughter of the late John Stephen Eason, Sr. and Prudy Magnolia Peace Eason. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, John Stephen Eason, Jr. and William Taft Eason; nieces, Tresa Farmer, Cindy Hayes, and Diane Trinidad; and special brothers and sisters-in-love. Esther was the youngest of seven sisters and three brothers. She graduated from Rocky Mount Senior High School. Esther worked at the Puckett Rest Home in Swelton Heights where she learned her great cooking skills. She worked at BJ Breck for 12 years and retired from Clean-Clean Laundry after 20 years of dedicated service, retiring in July of 2019, where she loved greeting and getting to know the customers from all over the city. Esther always had a smile to share with them. Esther was a long-time member (over 50 years) of Parkwood Baptist Church where she loved to serve God, nursery, choir, literature distribution, and coffee making! She was a cancer survivor of 15 years. She loved participating in the Survivor Banquet and the Relay for Life each year. She was always accompanied by some of her sisters who celebrated with her. Esther is survived by her beloved family including her siblings, Ellen Eason Blount, Mary Alice Buck and husband, Don, Ann Eason Hayes, Julia Farmer-Lindsey and husband, Monroe, Earnest Eason and special friend, Sharon, Brenda Eason Brewer and husband, Peaches, Leona Eason Pridgen; and dear sister-in-love, Theresa J. Eason. The pallbearers will be Donnie Keeter, Bobby Keeter, Earnie Eason, Todd Winstead, Keith Shearin, and Jeff Willingham. A Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, August 2, 2020 at 2:00 PM at Parkwood Baptist Church, 1731 Hunter Hill Road, Rocky Mount, NC 27804, with the Pastor John Scott and Pastor Mark Pridgen officiating. A visitation will be from 1:00 PM to 1:45 PM prior to the service in the Sanctuary of Parkwood Baptist Church. A Private Family Burial will take place at Pineview Cemetery. During this time of loss, it is understandable that family and friends would like to visit and express their sympathy. The family asks that during this difficult time for the safety and well-being of everyone, please wear your mask, use social distancing and hand sanitizer. You may join the family in the church sanctuary or there will also be live streaming on Facebook (www.facebook.com/parkwoodbc) or FM Radio 87.9 in the church parking lot. The family would like to thank the staff at Nash UNC Health Care System, Emergency Room, Critical Care Nurses and staff, and Dr. Desai for their skilled, kind, compassionate, gracious and accommodating care. They were wonderful to our "sleeping beauty" … they will remain in our prayers as they serve on the front-lines … heroes, for sure!   3. Esther was one of the most kind and sweetest person I ever met. She certainly be missed at Parkwood. I can see her smiling face keeping the nursery. God wanted a new angel and he certainly got one with Esther. God bless each one of you in her family.

  6. We want to pay tribute to Esther who was one of the sweetest people we have known. She was truly dedicated to her Lord and Church. Her passing will leave a hole in our hearts and the heart of the church. We will be praying for her family.

  7. So very sorry we lost sweet Esther. She was a beautiful person and could not have been more loved by many. We know she is resting in the arm of our Lord and Savior and her suffering is over. Although you know she is in a better place I know the weeks and months ahead will be very hard for her sweet family. May God wrap his loving arms around you all and give you comfort and peace. I love you all and will continue to keep you all in my prayers.
