Ernest Edward Moore, Jr.

BATTLEBORO - Ernest Edward Moore, Jr., age 75, passed away on Wednesday, February 7, 2018. Born in Nash County, NC on March 1, 1942, he was the son of the late Ernest Edward Moore, Sr. and Frances Burgess Moore. Ernest was an avid fisherman. He was a member and deacon of Avalon Baptist Church and longtime member of the Gideons of Tarboro. Ernest loved spending time with his family and making those around him smile. Ernest was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, and will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him. Ernest leaves behind to cherish his memory, wife of 57 years, Peggy Smith Moore; sons, Ernest Edward Moore, III, Grady Allen Moore and wife, Tonya; daughters, Jacqueline Hathaway and husband, Autry, and Amanda Pruitt and husband, Derek. He is also survived by grandchildren, Kellie McBride and husband, Michael, Daniel Moore, Chasity Moore, Leanne Moore, Casey Moore, Marcus Hanlin, Christopher Hanlin, Preston Hanlin, Declan Pruitt, Amelia Pruitt; great-grandchildren, Greyson and Katelynn McBride, Jaime Norris, Landon Batten, Ayden Hanlin; sister, Dina Lancaster and husband James Ray; and many nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Avalon Baptist Church, 3227 Old Battleboro Road, Rocky Mount with Joe Price officiating. A visitation will follow the service in the Fellowship Hall of Avalon Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Avalon Baptist Church, 3227 Old Battleboro Road, Rocky Mount, NC 27801 or Gideons of Tarboro, PO Box 15, Tarboro, NC 27886.   8. Kelly, I am so sorry to hear of your grandfathers passing. Just remember he is now walking with Jesus in heaven. He is now at home with no pains nor sickness, but living in a paradise that is promised to all that trust in the Lord Jesus and call Him as their Lord and Savior. Just remember the good times and be at peace with the knowledge that he is happy with Jesus.
