Emma Lou Williams Bass passed away Tuesday, December 6, 2011. She was born in Nash County, Rocky Mount, North Carolina on August 14, 1922. She was the daughter of the late Cooper White Williams and Emma Davis Williams. She is preceded in death by her husband Linwood Bass; sisters, Ruby Gold Barnes, Doris Thames, Josephine Cooper and a brother, Wilbur Dean Williams.
Left to cherish her memory are five nephews, L. M. Barnes, III and wife Margaret; Marvin Lee Barnes and wife Cynthia; Joe Thames; Lee Cooper and wife Amy; Dean Williams and wife Debbie and two nieces Theresa Joe Howell and husband George; Linda Dale Cockrell and husband Waylon. She is also survived by many great nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to her care-givers and the many loving friends for their thoughtfulness and generous support through the years.
Emma Lou was a devoted member of the First United Methodist Church. She worked as a faithful employee for Barnes Tin Shop, Inc. for a little over 50 years covering a span of four generations of owners. She was happiest when spending time with her family and close friends.
The family will receive friends from 7:00pm to 8:30pm Thursday, December 08, 2011 at Wheeler Woodlief Funeral Home and at others times at Emma Lou's house on Daughtry Street.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Friday, December 09, 2011 at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bob Bergland officiating. Burial will follow at Pineview Cemetery.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, 100 S. Church Street, Rocky Mount NC 27804.
