Emma Lee Collins Privette December 06, 2009
Emma Lee Collins Privette, 83, after a long illness, went peacefully Sunday, December 6, 2009, to be with her Savior, Jesus Christ. She was the first child born to the late Frank O. and Martha E. Collins on November 13, 1926. She was preceded in death by her loyal husband, Lonnie G. Privette and her brother, Frank Collins, Jr.
Always the loving and caring mother, she leaves two sons to cherish her life and their memories of her: Dan(ny) H. McLean, Jr. and wife, Susan, of Battleboro, NC; and Craig McLean and wife, Libby of Rocky Mount, NC; a devoted sister, Katie Johnson and husband, Harold of Fuquay-Varina; and her very much-loved grandchildren, Samuel McLean and wife, Mollie, of Rocky Mt., Joseph McLean and Christi Laton of Raleigh, Daniel McLean of Battleboro, and Nicholas McLean of Greenville, NC; and two young great-grandchildren, Wyatt and Lincon McLean, who brought her much joy during this last year, and two dear sisters-in-law, Barbara Collins, wife of Frank, Jr., and Daphine Pridgen. Among many loved cousins, she was especially close to her cousin Anita King and husband, Ray.
Also, "Aunt Emma Lee" was special to nieces and nephews, Jeff, Mike, Marty, Hal, Kemp, and Anna, and their lovely children, who provided her with many happy moments and memories.
All of us remember with fondness our family gatherings, which were always happy times filled with anticipation of the "good eats" from Emma's kitchen. She loved to cook for her boys and husband and all who visited. She was always one to "stir up" something to send to those who were sick or for those who had lost a loved one.
After marrying first husband, Dan H. McLean, Sr., in 1945, they made their home in Fuquay Springs where they reared their boys. Emma always loved to reminisce about those days in Fuquay and the family, friends, and relatives she cherished. She remained close to the McLeans until the end and loved all of them dearly.
The family appreciates all the relatives and friends who visited Emma during her stay at Nash Rehab. and Nash General and to her caregivers.
The family will receive friends and family at 12:30 p.m., Thursday, December 10th, at Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home in Rocky Mount, followed by a service there at 2:00, which will be conducted by Rev. Jeffrey Collins, her oldest nephew. Burial will follow at Battleboro Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest beside her infant twin sister. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Battleboro Baptist Church, P.O. Box 458, Battleboro, NC 27809.
