Edward Earl Daughtridge

Edward E. "Curly" Daughtridge, age 90, passed away on Sunday, August 21, 2016. Born in Edgecombe County, NC on May 3, 1926, he was the son of the late Stanley Daughtridge, Sr. and Edna Walker Daughtridge. He was also preceded in death by his two brothers, Russell and Stanley Daughtridge, Jr. A long-time member of Arlington Baptist Church, Curly was always active in his church and was an Honorary Deacon. A true patriot, Curly served in the Navy during WWII as a Corpsman rendering aid to his fellow brethren. Following the war, he went on to work for the railroad and later after 42 years retired from CSX Railroad as a car inspector. A loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, Curly cherished every moment he spent with his family. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. Curly leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of 70 years, Doris Newton Daughtridge; his daughter Gail Daughtridge Coggin; his grandchildren, Beverly and Kelly Coggin; and one sister, Edna Gurganus, all of Rocky Mount. He will also be dearly missed by many nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Arlington Baptist Church, 1500 Bethlehem Road, Rocky Mount. Burial will follow at Pineview Cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives one hour prior to the service beginning at 1:00 PM on August 24, 2016.
