Edna Joyce Jones

Edna Joyce Jones, age 80, passed away on Saturday, May 10, 2014. Born in Wayne County on January 10, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Mangum Watkins and Lois B. Weeks. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Emmitt Arnold Jones; son, Stephen Jones; sister, Betty Price; and brothers, Charles Watkins and Selby Watkins. Joyce worked for Rocky Mount Undergarment and then later worked for Phillip Fibers where she retired after 20 years. A dedicated Christian woman, she was a devoted member of Peoples Fellowship Church. Joyce was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt and friend who will be truly missed by all that loved her. She leaves behind her daughters, Debbie Brinkley (David) of New Bern, Arnette Jones, Kim Jones, Michelle Edmondson (Johnnie) and Morgan Jones, all of Rocky Mount; son, Timmy Jones (Sue) of Smithfield; 15 grandchildren; special grandson, Jason Jones; and 25 great grandchildren. She also is survived by two sisters, Jewel Thomas of Goldsboro and Kay Fisher of Red Oak. The family will receive friends and relatives 7:00pm - 8:30pm Monday, May 12, 2014 at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home and other times at the home of Jason and Heather Jones. A funeral service to remember Joyce will be held at 2:00pm Tuesday afternoon in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Dave Grogan officiating. Burial will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.
