Dwight C. Bennett

SALEM COMMUNITY - Dwight C. Bennett, age 95, passed away on Friday, April 15, 2022. Born in Nash County, NC on December 31, 1926, he was the son of the late Sidney and Cassie Bennett and the youngest of 12 siblings. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Mavis Bennett; his siblings, Leslie Bennett, Sidney Bennett, Mammie Taylor, Dick Bennett, Virginia Keehln, Henry Ford Bennett, Nancy Berrier, Jeannette Pittman, Fonto Bennett, Surine Stevenson, and Betsy Cole. Dwight was a charter member of Salem Community Baptist Church. He was a World War II veteran where he served in the Army. Dwight loved his family, his church family, and his Salem Community. He never met a stranger and would help anyone in need. Dwight enjoyed spending time with his Old Men's Club at Hardee's in Gold Rock. He was a wonderful father, grandfather, and great-grandfather and will be missed by all who knew him. Dwight is survived by his sons, Pete Bennett and Mike Bennett and wife, Joy; his daughter, Eve Williams and husband, Mike; his grandchildren, Billy Mansfield and wife, Hazel, Melissa Pierce and husband, Daniel, Jennifer Bennett, Bryan Bennett and wife, Alex, Daniel Bennett and wife, Ashley, Cassie Webb and husband, Braxton, and Scott Williams; his great-grandchildren, Taylor Bennett, McKensie Bennett, Brayden Pierce, Hannah Mansfield, Noah Mansfield, Ranen Marler, and Eva Marler; special nephew and friend, Keith Bennett; and numerous nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service to celebrate Dwight's life will be held on Wednesday, April 20, 2022, at 2:00 PM at Salem Community Baptist Church, 4502 Swift Creek School Road, Whitakers, NC 27891 with Rev. Caleb Gibson and Rev. Billy Webb officiating. Burial will follow the service at Bennett Family Cemetery. A visitation will be from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM prior to the service in the Sanctuary of Salem Community Baptist Church.
