Doris Dickens Foster

Doris Marie Dickens Foster passed away on Saturday, July 28, 2012. Doris was born on February 03, 1936 to H.B. and Mae Dickens of Edgecombe County. She is preceded in death by both parents, as well as her husband of 32 years, Jacky R. Foster, and her daughter, Martha W. Braswell. She is survived by her three children: daughter, Becky Phelps of Rocky Mount, and two sons: Greg Whitehurst of Fuquay Varina and Gordon J. Whitehurst of Rocky Mount; grandchildren: Bobbie Phelps of Rocky Mount, Christopher Whitehurst of Austin, Texas, CJ and Katie Whitehurst of Fuquay Varina, Jennifer Williamson of Vanceboro, Susan Cobb and Christina Whitehurst of Rocky Mount. She also leaves to cherish her memory, ten great-grandchildren, special friends, and extended family. The family will receive friends Tuesday, July 31, 2012 from 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm at the home of her son, Gordon Whitehurst, 1668 Flood Store Road, Rocky Mount NC. A private burial will be held by the family. Condolences may be sent to the home, 1668 Flood Store Road, Rocky Mount NC 27803 or donations may be made to the West Edgecombe Rescue Squad Inc. at 3000 Meadowbrook Road, Rocky Mount NC 27801.
