David Thomas Blanton

David Thomas Blanton, 58, of Rocky Mount, NC, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 7, 2015. He was born in Nash County on January 11, 1956, to Betty Barefield Blanton of Rocky Mount and the late Blaney Blanton. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife, Carol Eason Blanton; daughters, Amy Blanton and Amanda B. High and her husband, Cody, all of Rocky Mount; sisters, Sharon B. Manning and her husband, Arnold, and Deborah B. Phelps all of Rocky Mount; brother, Tim Blanton and his wife, Charlotte, also of Rocky Mount. David was expecting the blessing of his first grandson this April. For more than 30 years, David enjoyed working in the trucking industry in Rocky Mount. He began his career with Eagle Transport Corp. and later worked for Fast Food Merchandisers and Meadowbrook Meat Company. David was a faithful husband, father, son, brother and friend to so many. He was a devoted Christian who loved the Lord and truly sought to serve his family, church family (of Ridgecrest Worship Center) and anyone less fortunate. David loved serving at his church and was dedicated to the van ministry for more than 30 years. The legacy of faith, service and love for others that he has left to his family has been one that they will cherish forever. David was a man of a kind spirit, selflessness and determination to put others needs above his own. Although he is now home with his heavenly Father, he will always be missed by those who loved him. The home-going celebration will be held on Monday, January 12, 2015 at 7:00 PM at Ridgecrest Worship Center, 1120 W Mount Drive, Rocky Mount, North Carolina 27803. Visitation with the family will be Monday, January 12, 2015 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Ridgecrest Worship Center with Pastor Kelly Shope officiating.
