Clifton Harry Felton

Clifton Harry Felton, Sr., age 95, born December 08, 1916, passed away on Sunday, November 18, 2012. A native of Rocky Mount, he was the son of the late Shade and Lula Felton. He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Vivian Pridgen Felton; brothers, Marvin, Jake, Arky, Vernon, Horace, and Gordon Felton; and sister, Eunice Fowden. He is survived by sons, Clifton Harry Felton, Jr. of Virginia Beach VA, Graham Pridgen Felton (Lynne) of Stone Mountain GA; daughter, Lucinda Felton Pardue (Jerry) of Rocky Mount; grandchildren, Todd and Kirk Felton, Ashley Felton and Kimberly Felton Brown, Michelle Granger Moose and Catherine Granger Davis; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Cliff attended North Carolina State College and was a member of the basketball team. He owned and operated City Transfer and Storage Company and Nash Coal Company. He served the city of Rocky Mount as a city councilman and mayor pro-tem. He was a charter member of Lakeside Baptist Church where he served on numerous committees and was a deacon. Currently he was a member of First Baptist Church. He was a longtime member of Benvenue Country Club where he enjoyed his golf and card buddies. Also, he was a member of the Elks Club, the Lions Club, the Kiwanis Club and the Golden K Club. He resided at Brekenridge Retirement Center for the last 5 years. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff for the love and devotion they showed during his enjoyable stay. A graveside service to celebrate Cliffs life will be held at 2:00pm Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at the Rocky Mount Memorial Park Mausoleum with Rev. Bill Grisham officiating.
