Clifton Harry Felton

Clifton Harry Felton, Sr., age 95, born December 08, 1916, passed away on Sunday, November 18, 2012. A native of Rocky Mount, he was the son of the late Shade and Lula Felton. He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Vivian Pridgen Felton; brothers, Marvin, Jake, Arky, Vernon, Horace, and Gordon Felton; and sister, Eunice Fowden. He is survived by sons, Clifton Harry Felton, Jr. of Virginia Beach VA, Graham Pridgen Felton (Lynne) of Stone Mountain GA; daughter, Lucinda Felton Pardue (Jerry) of Rocky Mount; grandchildren, Todd and Kirk Felton, Ashley Felton and Kimberly Felton Brown, Michelle Granger Moose and Catherine Granger Davis; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Cliff attended North Carolina State College and was a member of the basketball team. He owned and operated City Transfer and Storage Company and Nash Coal Company. He served the city of Rocky Mount as a city councilman and mayor pro-tem. He was a charter member of Lakeside Baptist Church where he served on numerous committees and was a deacon. Currently he was a member of First Baptist Church. He was a longtime member of Benvenue Country Club where he enjoyed his golf and card buddies. Also, he was a member of the Elks Club, the Lions Club, the Kiwanis Club and the Golden K Club. He resided at Brekenridge Retirement Center for the last 5 years. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff for the love and devotion they showed during his enjoyable stay. A graveside service to celebrate Cliffs life will be held at 2:00pm Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at the Rocky Mount Memorial Park Mausoleum with Rev. Bill Grisham officiating. Flowers are welcomed or memorials may be made to Friends of Hospice of Nash General, 2460 Curtis Ellis Drive, Rocky Mount NC 27804 or a charity of your choice.
