Charlotte Bailey MacRae

May 16, 1917 ~ September 14, 2014

Charlotte Bailey MacRae, age 97, peacefully passed away on Sunday, September 14, 2014. Born in Plymouth, NC, she was the daughter of the late I.B. Gailey and Kate Loane Bailey. Charlotte was educated in Fayetteville, NC and Rocky Mount, NC. She was employed for many years in the insurance industry and was the first female in Rocky Mount to become a licensed fire and causality insurance agent. She retired from Wilkinson, Bulluck and Company in 1982. Charlotte was an avid reader and was a member of The Readers Guild for many years. Her greatest joy, however, was her love of music. She shared her beautiful voice with the choir at The Church of the Good Shepherd for as long as her health allowed. In addition, she served the church as a member of the Alter Guild and the Vestry. She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-nine years, Jack MacRae in 2010 and her sister, Kate B. Percival. She leaves to cherish her memory her cousins Corrine Dorsey of Scottsville, VA and Bettie Bizier of Winter Park, FL. She is also survived by her adopted family and caregivers, Carol Mascia, Ruddy and Julie Love, Henry Love and Mary Margaret Love. A memorial service to remember Charlotte will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, September 19, 2014 at The Church of the Good Shepherd, 231 N. Church Street, Rocky Mount, NC with Rector Matthew Johnson officiating. The family would like to gratefully thank the staff at Brekenridge Retirement Center for the love and compassionate care given to Charlotte. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that donations be made to the Choir Fund at The Church of the Good Shepherd, 231 N. Church Street, Rocky Mount, NC. Arrangements entrusted to Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home, 1130 N. Winstead Avenue, Rocky Mount NC 27804. You may share memories and condolences with the family by visiting www.wheelerwoodlief.com. 1. I’m sorry to hear of the loss of your loved one. Jehovah God promises that very soon death and all sorrow will be a thing of the past. Revelation 213,4. And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away. Also, he promises that there will be a resurrection. This real hope of seeing our dead loved ones live again is found at Acts 2415. I hope the promises of the Bible can bring you and your family comfort during this difficult time.
