Charles Thomas Lucas, age 66, passed away July 26, 2014 surrounded by his loyal family. He was born August 21, 1947 in Wilson County to the late Earnest Carr Lucas and Bernice H. Lucas. After losing his father at a young age, he devoted his whole life to loving and caring for his mother, Bernice.
Thomas cherished his wife, Brenda W. Lucas, through their 42 years of marriage. He also leaves to cherish his memory, his daughter, Shannon L. Shearin of Rocky Mount; step daughter, Darlene Jones and husband, Glenn of Greenville; and three grandsons, Spencer Jones, Blake Smith and Ryder Shearin. He will also be remembered by his brother, Earnest Carr Lucas Jr. of Prineville, Oregon.
Thomas retired from Harris-Cuthrell as a traveling sales representative. He had a passion for serving others and dedicated countless hours to the Rocky Mount Shriners Club. He also was a member of the Moose Lodge 938. He enjoyed skeet shooting at Old Hickory Gun Club. He enjoyed hunting trips and fishing with friends. He received much satisfaction from cooking for his family and friends. A man known by his family as the provider, peacemaker and caretaker; his love and dedication for them was his priority until his final moments.
The family will receive friends and relatives 6:30pm to 8:30pm Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home. A service to remember Thomas will be held at 11:00am Wednesday morning with Pastor Blake Coghill officiating. Burial will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sudan Shriners Children's Hospital, 403 E. Front Street, New Bern NC 28560 or a charity of one's choice.
