Charles Edward "Mutt" Wilson

ROCKY MOUNT – Charles Edward “Mutt” Wilson, age 72, passed away on Sunday, July 23, 2023. Born in Wake County, NC on April 20, 1951, he was the son of the late John Franklin “Frank” Wilson and Mary Wandalee Wilson Wilson. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Georgia Alice Poland Wilson. Mutt was a member of First United Methodist Church and a legacy member of the Boy Scouts, Troop 5. He was an incredible man of utmost integrity and epitomized the precepts of the Boy Scout Oath which he observed as an Eagle Scout and recipient of the God and Country award. Mutt worked for People’s Building Supply and retired from Dyke Industries after many years of faithful service. A loving and caring father, grandfather, brother, and dear friend, Mutt will be forever missed and never forgotten. Mutt is survived by his daughters, Alyson Wilson Girouard and husband, Mike, and Kimberly Wilson Lloyd and husband, Peter; his granddaughters, Madelyn Girouard, Ava Lloyd, and Mary Kate Girouard; and his brother, John “Jeff” F. Wilson, Jr. and wife, Annie. A Celebration of Mutt’s Life will be held on Saturday, July 29, 2023, at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Rev. Dr. David Joyner officiating. Visitation with the family will be from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM prior to the service in the Atrium of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home. A Private Burial will be held at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mutt’s memory to Boy Scouts Troop 5, c/o: First United Methodist Church, 100 South Church Street, Rocky Mount, NC 27804.
