WHITAKERS - Carolyn Hull Neville, age 73, went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, December 3, 2016. Born in Edgecombe County, NC on December 12, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Willie Russell Hull and Catherine Tippett Hull.
Carolyn was a loving, supportive wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was also a woman of great intelligence and business instincts. She began her career in banking as a part time teller at Peoples Bank and Trust Company and quickly rose to the position of head teller. Lacking the necessary college degree to advance further she, in true Carolyn style, set her course toward that goal. Of all her successes and achievements, her family most admires the years she spent juggling her roles of wife and mother, her full time position at Peoples and her night courses for several years until she graduated from North Carolina Wesleyan College with honors. After that ceiling was broken, she rose through the ranks and finished her career as Sr.
Vice President of Compliance at first Centura and then RBC Centura. To quote a younger banking colleague, “Carolyn was well respected in her profession and helped pave the way for many women following in her footsteps.” Anything she started she finished well. In her retirement Carolyn loved her painting and spent many years in the company of her artist friends at Barton College. These kindred souls became her friends and her second family. Art was her passion and she shared and encouraged many people to find their artistic voices; both young and old.
Of all the people she loved, and she loved many, she absolutely cherished her grandboys. She was patient yet uncompromising in her “manners” lessons as well as her life lessons. She was very successful and leaves four fine gentlemen as her legacy. Carolyn was a dedicated member of Sunset Avenue Baptist Church and loved her Sunday School Class. She always gave people her smile and put them before herself. She was an elegant lady with a simple taste. She will be missed by all who knew her. The world will be a dimmer place without her in it.
Carolyn leaves behind to cherish her memory, her husband of 55 years, Leon Henderson Neville; daughters, Kathy Anne Neville Sunderman and husband, Dr. Michael Sunderman, of Rocky Mount; and Karen Joanne Neville Bozard and husband, Brian, of Whitakers. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Brandon Christopher Warren; Daniel Harrison Warren; John Henderson Bozard and wife, Sara; and Andrew Keith Bozard; sisters, Gloria Jean Hull and husband, Ed Hare, of Fuquay-Varina; and Marilyn Hull Johnson and husband, Joe, of Whitakers; and nieces and nephews, Lori Gardner; Katie Barakat; Amy Stotesbury; Joe Johnson; and Jessica Joyner.
The family wishes to extend our deepest gratitude to the staff at UNC Nash; especially Julie Szczypkowski PA, Dr. Madhvi Patel, Dr. Lucius Howell, Dr. Priyank Desai, Sandra Brown and Olivia Thompson and the incredible CCU staff who valiantly fought for Carolyn in her last hours. There are simply no words to describe your dedication. We could ask for nothing more. In the end, it was simply time for her to go home. Thank you.

To Lynn& Family, Our thoughts and prayers will be with you in the days ahead.Carolyn left a great legacy and will forever be missed by all who knew her. God be with you all.
I was so saddened to read about Carolyn’s passing, but I know I will see her again. We have been friends for over 30 years, working together at Peoples Bank all the way until RBC. Carolyn was so smart and excelled in any new assignments that came her way. She also had a wonderful sense of humor. I’ve admired the way she handled her health problems, always in an upbeat way, and through it all giving glory to God. I’ll miss her and will keep her family in my prayers. Love, Jean Evans

Leon and Family, Carolyn was such a special kind of person to say the least. Her sense of humor, laughter, special talents, and kindness will be missed by so many people that knew and loved her. She had a way about her unlike any other person I have ever known and that is what made her so special. Carolyn had a special way of making one feel comfortable in her presence and could talk to anybody about anything. I will truly miss her smile and love. She was a brave warrior. To the Neville family, Vickie and I always enjoyed talking to Carolyn and will miss her. She was always such a joy to be with at church (SABC). I can remember taking plates to Leon and Carolyn from the hunting club (Wild Turkey) and she so enjoyed getting those every year. Another great memory I have is doing a paint class with her at church. I still have my masterpiece that she helped me paint of our little dog, Ellie Mae! I will think of her every time I pull this painting out. Carolyn was a hoot to be with and she will be greatly missed! We will be praying for all of you as you go through this difficult time in your life. Much Love, Jimmy & Vickie Lawson Romans 828

I want to send my deepest sympathy to the family of Carolyn Hull Neville. The bible tells us we can gain comfort from God, even during times of sorrow. We pray to our heavenly father for help to cope with the sorrow felt from the death of a loved one. By prayer and supplication along with thanksgiving, let your petitions be made known to God; and the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and your mental powers by means of Christ Jesus. Philippians 46 May you find comfort by relying on our heavenly father and learning more about the blessings of God’s kingdom. Local ministry volunteer
