Calvin Bruce Peacock

Rocky Mount, NC - Dr. Calvin Bruce Peacock Jr., 77, went to be with his Lord, Thursday, January 28th, 2010. A native of Nash County, North Carolina, Bruce was ordained to the ministry in 1972 and has served as a faithful pastor of Christ Fellowship Church for nearly 40 years. He served in the signal corps of the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956, from which he was honorably discharged. He was a self-employed businessman with Southwestern Life Insurance Company for 45 years. He was a life member of the Million Dollar Round Table and fifty year member of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors. He enjoyed coaching youth sports from the early 1960's to the early 1970's. He attended Wake Forest University where he too played basketball. He received the Doctor of Sacred Letters Degree, May 15th, 1988, from Foundations Bible College. Bruce was preceded in death by his father, C.B. Peacock, Sr. and mother Margaret Saunders Peacock as well as an infant sister, Inis Faye. He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 55 years, Louise Gay Peacock, one sister, Judy P. Greene and husband Bill, one brother, Ronald L. Peacock and wife Gladys, and many admiring nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Saturday, January 30, 2010 from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at Christ Fellowship Church, 1300 Goldrock Road, Rocky Mount, NC at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 31, 2010. . Burial will follow in the Chapel Mausoleum at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. Dr. H. T. Spence and Dr. Dennis Lowry will officiate the services. Pallbearers will be Andy Bone, Aaron Gay, Bill Greene, Daniel Peede, Joshua Peede, and Ronnie Peede. Honorary pallbearers are Bob Cummings and Ed Gupton.
