Callie J. “Papa Jim” Stallings

ROCKY MOUNT - Callie J. "Papa Jim" Stallings, age 85, passed away on Sunday, February 20, 2022. Born in Nash County, NC on May 28, 1936, he was the son of the late Willie Wilson Stallings and Sally Mae Millard Stallings. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Lee Taylor Stallings; his son, Adam C. Curtis, Jr.; and his brother, Larry Stallings. Jim served in the United States Air Force until his retirement following 22 years. Following his honorable discharge, he went to work for Nash County until he retired from the county after 25 years. Jim was a long-time member of Oak View Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher. Jim cherished his family, his church family, and all of his friends. In his spare time, he had a passion for building and flying RC planes as well as searching and learning about his family genealogy. A loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, Jim will be missed by all who knew him and loved him. Jim is survived by his daughters, Joan Weeks and her husband, Gary, of Rocky Mount, Sue Dodd and her husband, Jeff, of Howe, OK, and Laura Clark of Howe, OK; his grandchildren, April Richardson and husband Josh and Greg Weeks and wife Sarah; his great-grandchildren, Austin Weeks, Christopher Weeks, Kyle Richardson, Camden Richardson, Landen Weeks, Amelia Weeks, Elana Dodd, and Erica Dodd; his brothers, Kenneth Stallings and wife Anne and Marvin Stallings; his sister, Joyce Stallings Jones; and a host of beloved nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, February 25, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Oak View Baptist Church, 2412 Arlington Street, Rocky Mount, NC 27801 with Rev. David Taylor officiating. Burial will follow the service at Pineview Cemetery. A visitation will be from 1:00 PM to 1:45 PM prior to the service in the Sanctuary of Oak View Baptist Church. The family would like to say a special thanks to Community Home Care & Hospice staff (Liz, Shekeiya, Alysia, Elaine, Sharnetta, and Jackie) for their great care and support.
