Brenda Moss Cockrell

February 2, 1954 ~ January 8, 2021

NASHVILLE - Brenda Moss Cockrell, age 66, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, January 8, 2021. She was born in Nash County, NC on February 2, 1954. She was predeceased in death by her husband Joseph William Cockrell. Brenda was known by many for her contagious smile, laughter, and welcoming personality. She was a long-time member of Corinth Baptist Church in Nashville. Brenda enjoyed listening to music in Castalia, a love for the outdoors and her vacations to the mountains and being surrounded by her loving family. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and a caring friend to many. Above all, her most cherished memories will be those spent with her family. Brenda is survived by her daughter; Jennifer Paige Cockrell; her son, Jeffrey Wyatt Cockrell and his finance', Bobbie Jo Hargrove; her adopted daughter, Katie Elizabeth Pridgen, all of Nashville; her grandchildren; Jessica Leigh Flood and Joseph "Joey" Zachary Smith; her great grandson, Jackson Gray Ayscue; her parents, Simon and Velma Winstead Moss of Rocky Mount; her brother, Mike E. Moss and his wife, Jamie, of Nashville; and several nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service to celebrate Brenda's life will be held on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 1130 N. Winstead Avenue, Rocky Mount, NC 27804 with Eddie Finch officiating. Burial will follow the service at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. The family will receive friends and relatives on Monday, January 11, 2021 from 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home and at other times at Brenda's home in Nashville. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the family is requesting the need for social distancing and wearing of masks due to health concerns faced around our nation at this time. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Brenda's memory to American Cancer Society, 930 B Wellness Drive, Greenville, NC 27834.   5. I worked wirh Brenda at BES for many years. She enjoyed her work and was good at it. She was always willing to do whatever was needed. She wss really missed after hse retired. Special condolences to her family..
