Bennie Wright Pollard, 86, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, March 02, 2010. He was born March 01, 1924 in Pitt County, son of the late Bennie Fernando Pollard and Estelle Faithful Pollard. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marion Pollard and daughter, Cheryl P. Fisher.
He met and married his high school sweetheart, Marion and they were happily married for 64 years. They made their home in Rocky Mount where he owned his own grocery store. He enjoyed camping, racing go-carts, and spending time with his family. He was a member of Red Oak Baptist Church.
Bennie leaves behind to cherish his memory, four sons and their spouses, Wayne and Lorraine Pollard of Hebron , Ohio, Mark and Teresa Pollard of Currituck, North Carolina, Walt and Patty Pollard of Wilmington, North Carolina, and Michael and Vickie Pollard of Red Oak, North Carolina; and son-in-law, Dwight Fisher of Red Oak, North Carolina. He had 16 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends and relatives 7-8:30pm Thursday, March 04, 2010 at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home. Services will be on Friday March 5, 2010 at 11:00 am at Rocky Mount Memorial Park Mausoleum with Rev. Jim Upchurch officiating.
